Pre-Schools

The preschools are operated by Hippocampus Learning Centres, an associate organization. The preschools operate in rural and peri-urban parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka states in India, with mission of ‘making children self-learners’.

The preschools is a path-breaking effort to bring awareness and literacy to many families, where many a times, the learners are first generation learners. The program has successfully been able to bring awareness about early childhood education in some of the remotest areas of the
country with a population of approximately 5000 people.

The teachers are extensively trained to deliver tangible outcomes with the help of a program which is activity based and promotes experiential learning.

Parents and community contribute to the strength of the program with their participation and support throughout the year. Multiple
events are organized for making learning visible to various stakeholders, including the panchayat and the larger community.

Today, the parents completely trust the brand and are confident that HLC provides the right kind of beginning for their children’s learning journey. The organization takes it strength from some of the best brains in the education industry who have come together to meet the vision and mission of Hippocampus Learning Centre.

The programs today operate in more than 200 preschools and reach out to 15,000 children annually. Over its life time, this program would have delivered more than 100,000 years of preschool education to rural children.

The foundation has supported the establishment costs for many of the preschools. . It also supports economically weaker children through scholarships. The foundation has also conducted a randomized evaluation of the program in partnership with MIT-JPAL, one of the first such exercises in South and South East Asia.
